I love Kamala Harris (and Tim Walz!) and we must win the presidency this November! She and her sister Maya were raised by their mother Shyamala Gopalan Harris in the most wonderful way. Shyamala was a biomedical scientist at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, working towards trying to solve breast cancer. At only 19, she enrolled in a master’s program at UC Berkeley, moving from Delhi to CA, where she met Kamala’s father Donald Harris, who was a grad Economics student before becoming a professor. They raised their daughters as political activists and champions of progressive causes. After divorcing in the early 70’s, Shyamala was an incredibly strong mother, who inspired Kamala on her path to presidency:

“My mother taught me that service to others gives life purpose and meaning.”

“Even as she taught us to keep our family at the center of our world, she also pushed us to see a world beyond ourselves.”

“My mother taught us the importance of a good education. ⁣She taught us the good old-fashioned value of hard work. ⁣She taught us don’t let anyone tell you who you are. You tell them who you are. ⁣She taught us not only to dream but to do. She taught us to believe in our power to right what is wrong.”

I listened to Kamala narrate her extraordinary autobiography “The Truths We Hold” that confirmed to me that she is the absolute best person for being our president right now moving our country forward. I also listened to her Spotify playlist, mixed with the great music from her campaigns and one of her favorite albums, Roy Ayers “Everybody Loves the Sunshine”.

Incredibly smart and optimistic and leading us into the future, Kamala is a ray of sunshine for America! Tell everyone to register to vote and save our democracy by voting for Kamala & Tim!
